OLIVUM grants the first Olive Oil Sustainability Certificate (PSA)

OLIVUM (Association of Olive Growers and Olive Oil Mills of Portugal) has announced the awarding of the first PSA Certificate – Olive Oil Sustainability Program, marking a key milestone for the olive oil sector at both national and international levels.

The company Casa Relvas becomes the first entity to be certified with the PSA seal, identified with number #001, after successfully completing a demanding evaluation process.

According to Pedro Lopes, President of OLIVUM, “the awarding of the first PSA Seal represents the culmination of a strategic effort and the beginning of a new phase for Portuguese olive oil. It is clear evidence that our industry not only anticipates sustainability, but also applies it effectively, responding proactively to the expectations of consumers and international markets.”

The Olive Oil Sustainability Program (PSA) was developed through a rigorous process that began in 2022, with the aim of establishing clear and verifiable criteria that promote sustainable practices, transparency in production, and the valorization of olive oil.

Currently, several producers are undergoing the certification process, and it is expected that the presence of the PSA seal in the market will expand in the short term, consolidating this initiative as a benchmark for the future of the olive oil sector.
