GEA Iberia has installed its first two Direct Drive centrifuges

GEA Iberia has recently installed its latest innovation, the Direct Drive centrifuge, in two Andalusian cooperatives: SCA Virgen de Guadalupe in Baena and SCA Inmaculada Concepción in La Roda de Andalucía. These two entities have embraced the technology of the German multinational, known for its innovation and sustainability.

The Direct Drive centrifuge was introduced at the last International Olive Oil and Related Industries Fair, Expoliva, generating great interest in the sector. It is the world’s first olive oil separator with direct drive technology. Among its advantages, it offers up to 10% savings in electricity consumption, reduces downtime by up to 99%, and ensures maximum service efficiency. This simple mechanism also allows for quick and easy system changes and significantly reduces noise compared to previous systems. Additionally, the Integrated Direct Drive system reduces the current centrifuge size by 35%, meaning a much smaller footprint and better use of space within the facility.

This model also features the TÜV-certified “Add Better” label—an environmental badge identifying solutions (from industrial machines to entire processes and plants) that are significantly more resource-efficient than their predecessors.

Juan Manuel Jariego, Sales Manager at GEA’s Olive Oil Centre of Excellence, notes that both cooperatives are very satisfied with the installation of GEA’s new technology, as it will not only streamline their olive processing but also make them more efficient and sustainable. “We have many more customers interested in the Direct Drive because it’s a centrifuge with outstanding performance that will mark a turning point in olive oil technology,” Jariego emphasizes.

SCA Virgen de Guadalupe in Baena has a strong commitment to environmental care, maintaining its surroundings and implementing a waste management and by-product utilization plan.

Meanwhile, SCA Inmaculada Concepción in La Roda de Andalucía is a cooperative that has earned numerous prestigious national and international awards, including the Alimentos de España Award, the Mario Salinas Award, and the Expoliva Award.

GEA is a global leader in providing equipment and complete plants for the food industry, with vast experience in sectors such as dairy, beverages, and processed meats. The Group operates its Olive Oil Centre of Excellence, based in Úbeda, which coordinates sales, repairs, and maintenance of industrial equipment for olive oil extraction.
