GEA has once again demonstrated its firm commitment to technological excellence, efficiency and food safety in the olive oil sector through its participation in the technical conference “Quality and food safety in EVOO production”. The event, held at Finca El Retamar, forms part of the Aula Virgen Extra training programme, run jointly by the Montes de Toledo PDO and the Eurocaja Rural Foundation.
The event brought together leading experts and researchers from the sector, as well as representatives of benchmark companies, to discuss the main challenges facing the olive oil industry. GEA was represented by Francisco Plaza Rodríguez, the company’s Olive Oil Application Manager, who set out the brand’s technical perspective on the development of cutting-edge solutions for olive mills.
The conference examined issues that are key to the future of the sector, such as the critical control points in the extra virgin olive oil production process; the prevention of MOSH-MOAH contamination — currently one of the greatest concerns in guaranteeing the quality of the end product; the use of food-grade lubricants to reinforce industrial safety and hygiene standards; and the adaptation and modernisation of olive mills with a view to maximising energy efficiency and operating profitability.
Indeed, optimising industrial processes and upgrading the technology of production plants is one of GEA’s main strengths. At this event the company reaffirmed its firm commitment to technological excellence, working alongside growers, producers and olive mill managers so that they can meet market demands with the greatest possible assurance. On this point, Francisco Plaza stressed in his address that “the technological transformation of olive mills is not only a way of maximising energy efficiency and industrial performance, but an essential requirement for safeguarding the highest quality and safety of extra virgin olive oil. At GEA we remain fully committed to offering advanced solutions that allow producers to optimise every critical point in the process with complete regulatory and operational peace of mind.”
The organisers, the Montes de Toledo PDO and the Eurocaja Rural Foundation, also underlined the importance of promoting technical learning and good practice in the sector, consolidating forums of this kind as a cornerstone of the development of olive oil production.
