Historic record in olive oil production in Castilla-La Mancha

Castilla-La Mancha has closed the olive growing season with an unprecedented production: 145,421 tonnes of olive oil up to 31 March. This figure represents 33.8% more than the previous season and 118% more than two years ago, thus consolidating an extraordinary growth trend.

The region is 37% above the average production of the last decade, reaffirming the strategic importance of the olive grove sector in the Castilian-La Mancha agri-food panorama. With 460,000 hectares dedicated to olive cultivation, it is the leading woody crop in the region and one of the fundamental pillars of the primary sector.

The success of this campaign is attributed, among other factors, to the strong roots of the olive-growing tradition, the advanced technology in the mills, and the commitment of professionals both in the field and in the processing of the product.

Thanks to these results, Castilla-La Mancha has consolidated its position as the third largest olive oil producing region in the world and this product has become the third most exported in the regional agri-food sector, highlighting its impact on a global level.
