The DOP and IGP of EVOO in the world, protagonists of the new OOWC conference

The Olive Oil World Congress has organised a conference entitled 'The DOPs and IGPs of EVOO in the world' which will take place virtually on 14 March 2023 at 10:00 a.m. The event is part of the 'En Route to the OOWC' activities which aim to raise awareness of the congress and support its celebration in Madrid in 2024. The day, which will feature international olive oil experts, will begin with a talk entitled "Olive oil with designation of origin in the world", by Ewa Smolenska-Poloz, head of the EU register of geographical indications at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture.

The event will be followed by a speech by Francisco Javier Mate, Deputy Director General for Food Quality Control and Agri-Food Laboratories, who will speak on "The importance of differentiated quality figures for EVOO in Spain".

Finally, there will be a round table discussion on "Present and future of differentiated quality EVOO" with the participation of experts José Manuel Bajo, Executive Secretary, National Sectorial Sectorial EVOO with Designation of Origin; Susana Oliveira, General Secretary of the Associação dos Agricultores do Ribatejo, DOP Azeites dos Ribatejo; and a representative of the DOP Italia.
