The olive oil sector is approaching 2026 with a particularly active international agenda, as highlighted in the publication “2026: A Promising Year for the IOC”, released on 20 January 2026. This document underscores a year full of initiatives, technical advances and strategic meetings that reflect the dynamism and international reach of the olive oil sector.
Within this context, the Olive Oil World Congress (OOWC) is consolidating its position as one of the key dates on the international olive oil calendar, to be held on 2 and 3 July 2026 in Lisbon. Its timing, during a pivotal week for the sector in which the International Olive Council (IOC) concentrates major meetings and activities, further reinforces the role of the OOWC as a strategic global meeting point.
The IOC publication highlights that 2026 will be marked by milestones such as the launch of the carbon balance calculation tool for olive groves, the preservation of olive biodiversity, the update of the World Catalogue of Olive Varieties, and the promotion of training, outreach and international cooperation initiatives. In full alignment with these objectives, the OOWC provides a forum for dialogue and analysis addressing the sector’s major challenges: sustainability, innovation, quality, markets and consumption.
Thus, in the context of a year that the IOC itself defines as promising for the olive sector as a whole, the OOWC reaffirms its status as a must-attend event on the international calendar, helping to strengthen collaboration, knowledge exchange and a shared vision for the future of olive oil worldwide.
