The second edition of the Olive Oil World Congress to be held in Lisbon in 2026

The Olive Oil World Congress (OOWC) continues on its way during this year, “In Route to the OOWC 2026”, with an outstanding participation in the framework of Expoliva 2025, held from May 14 to 16 in Jaén. In a context of maximum specialization and high participation of national and international experts, the OOWC took advantage of this top-level platform to publicize the latest advances of the project, to promote dialogue between key players in the sector and, especially, to highlight the fundamental role of sponsors and collaborators in the development of this ambitious world congress.

During the first day of the International Scientific and Technical Symposium, the general coordinator of the OOWC, Ricardo Migueláñez, presented the main milestones and strategic lines of the congress, which will hold its second edition in 2026 and aims to position itself as the great meeting point of the olive sector at a global level.

Migueláñez stressed that the Olive Oil World Congress is a participatory and open project, which has already been joined by numerous public and private entities, among other relevant organizations. In his words: “the OOWC is a project that is built by all, from the base, with an integrating vision, where sponsorship is not limited to an economic issue, but represents a commitment to the future of the sector, with innovation, sustainability and the international projection of olive oil”.

One of the backbones of the OOWC is precisely its collaborative structure, which allows both companies and associations and institutions to form an active part of its decision-making and planning bodies. Collaborating companies and organizations not only gain visibility in one of the most influential forums in the sector, but also have the opportunity to join the working committees, where the agenda is defined, promotional actions are designed and the keys to the technical and business development of the congress are articulated.

This initiative already has the support and participation of leading institutions and companies, including the International Olive Council (IOC), CIHEAM Zaragoza, the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha -through its brand Campo y Alma-, SOM Gastronomy of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food through “Alimentos de España”, the Madrid Institute for Research and Rural, Agricultural and Food Development (IMIDRA), as well as AgroBank and GEA.

With this new stop in Jaén and after passing through the United States, the Olive Oil World Congress continues to consolidate its presence and identity as an international reference project. And it does so with the firm conviction that collaboration between public, private, academic and social entities is the true engine of growth and visibility of the olive oil sector in the world.
