Two classroom-based courses aimed at professionals in the olive oil sector will soon be held in the Community of Madrid, with the aim of deepening technical knowledge about olive cultivation and the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).
The first of these, Olive Growing in the Community of Madrid, will take place between Thursday 9 and Friday 17 October 2025, with a total duration of 26 hours. This course combines theoretical and practical sessions and is aimed at those interested in acquiring or reinforcing their knowledge of olive cultivation, including aspects such as soils and nutrition, organic olive growing, mechanisation and pruning, as well as disease and pest management. Participants will have the opportunity to visit olive groves to learn about varieties and cultivation systems and take part in pruning practices. The sessions will be held at Finca El Encín (Alcalá de Henares) on 9, 10, 13, 15 and 17 October from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm, and at Finca La Chimenea (Aranjuez) on 14 and 16 October from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To participate, you must download the general application form and follow the steps indicated in the Registration section.
The second course, EVOO Production and Tasting, will be held from Monday 10 to Tuesday 18 November 2025, with a duration of 24 hours. This programme is designed to provide an in-depth look at the quality, production and sensory analysis of extra virgin olive oils. Its content includes the study of olive groves in the Community of Madrid, quality parameters, economic analysis and marketing, tasting methodology and practices, EVOO production and practical visits to oil mills. Classes will be held at Finca El Encín (Alcalá de Henares) from 10 to 13 November from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and at Almazara Fanum Olive Oil (Torremocha de Jarama) on 17 and 18 November at the same time. As with the olive growing course, registration requires downloading the general application form and completing the steps indicated in the corresponding section.
Both courses offer a comprehensive opportunity for professionals who wish to receive comprehensive training in the olive oil sector, combining theory, practical work and direct experience in the field and at oil mills, thus ensuring high-quality, applicable learning.
